Mangaluru, May 27: ADGP (Law and order) Alok Kumar launched M V Nair & Venkat Endowment Fund here at St Aloysius College on Friday May 27.
Addressing the gathering, Alok Kumar said, “M V Nair and E S Venkat have shown a wonderful gesture for a noble cause. Nair is closely associated with the police department as his father was a head constable. He is now carrying forward the legacy through this endowment fund. I urge students to go harder in life, be the best and do the best in every possible manner.”
Nair is an alumni of St Aloysius College in 1971. He is the son of late M K R Nair who served as a head constable and retired in 1980. Nair with the help of his colleague Venkat started the M V Nair & Venkat Endowment Fund for the children of police constables. The duo donated Rs 1 crore through the endowment fund.
Nair said, “If there are more number of students, we will not hesitate to donate additional funds and will go to any extent for it.”
Hariram Shankar, DCP law and order, and Fr Melwin J Pinto, rector St Aloysius institutions were present.
Registrar Allwyn D Sa welcomed the gathering, principal St Aloysius College Dr Praveen Martis rendered the vote of thanks and Karuna compered the event.
