Udupi: D V Raises Issue of Violation of Children’s Right During Parliamentary Session

Udupi, Mar 8: Udupi – Chikmagalur MP D V Sadanand Gowda urged the union government during the parliamentary session recently, in order to direct all state governments across the nation, to take stricter actions on those who suppress children’s rights and force the children to abandon their studies.

MP Sadanand Gowda queried the union government – what were the guidelines that are issued to various state administrations on children’s rights and what measures the state administrations have taken in this regard, since the children are the future citizens of our nation. It’s the responsibility of governments to educate the children and groom them for their bright futures.

Union rural development minister Vilasrao Deshmukh in his reply to MP Sadanand Gowda, stated that on the basis of recommendations from National Human Rights Commission, the ministry has instructed all the state administrations, to take necessary actions on protecting the children especially girls from atrocities and to implement these measures in gram panchayat level.

Besides, women and child welfare ministry has been working in this regard through their guidelines, in order to lay emphasis on children’s right in various gram sabha, training camps, self-help-groups, youth service groups, literacy campaign to children and their parents etc in gram panchayat level, thereby taken measures to protect the rights of children and curb the abandoning of studies.
