London, March 8 (DPA) Frank Lampard scored twice as fourth-placed Chelsea won 3-1 at Blackpool Monday night to reignite their outside hopes of retaining their Premier League title.

John Terry got the other goal as Chelsea moved to within nine points of leaders Manchester United, with a game in hand and with the two sides still to meet again this season.

"They gave us a great game," Lampard said. "We were a bit sloppy at times but luckily with a bit of quality we won it.

"We are still behind (United) but it's nice to be looking upwards again. I don't think we were at our best tonight because we were a bit sloppy.

"We probably need to win every game from now on. Manchester United and Arsenal are great teams but you have got to believe you can do it.

"If we can win all our games we will have a great chance but that's not an easy thing to do."

Terry put Chelsea ahead on 20 minutes with a fine header from a Lampard corner, but Jason Puncheon almost equalised 13 minutes later when his shot hit the post.

Chelsea grew in confidence as the second half wore on and they doubled their lead when Lampard converted from the penalty spot after Ian Evatt was adjudged to have fouled Salamon Kalou.

Kalou had replaced the injured Didier Drogba 10 minutes into the second half and he set up the third with a perfectly weighted through-ball to Lampard who slid the ball into the corner.

Puncheon gave Blackpool hope with a fine goal with four minutes to go and they almost scored a second but Chelsea hung on to cut the gap between themselves and leaders United.
