Mangalore: Spandana Trust Celebrates 100th International Women’s Day at Jeppu

Mangalore, Mar 8: The International Women’s Day celebration was held at Spandana trust, Social Welfare unit, Infant Mary’s Convent Jeppu, here on Tuesday, March 8.

Sr Mary Emma Joseph, superior of Infant Mary’s convent, was the president of the function. Jacintha Alfred, corporator Falnir ward was the chief guest on the occasion. Prakash Rao and K T Sachin, programme co- coordinators, CIAI association and Barbara and others from Germany were the guests present on the occasion.

Malini Rodrigues, community development officer was the resource person for the event. She spoke on ration card and other government facilities.

Theertha K S, social worker, Spandana trust was another resource person for the event. She spoke on tuberculosis awareness to the participants present for the programme.  

In all, 950 SHG members participated in the programme. Sr Evangeline, administrator Spandana trust welcomed the gathering. Usha Naik, president of Munnade SHG Federation proposed the vote of thanks. Surekha and Lizzy D’Souza compeered.

Victor Vas, co-coordinator, Theertha, Reena Lobo and Lucy D’souza of Spandana trust organized the programme.

The variety entertainment programme was followed by the formal programme. The social work animators, self-help group and B S W student of St Agnes College took part in the entertainment extravaganza.
