Bantwal, Mar 13: Dakshina Kannada district Akshara Dasoha Workers' Association (CITU) chief secretary Yashoda condemned the state proposal to privatize the mid-day hot meals programme that has been so far solely run by state administration in government schools across the Bantwal taluk.

Yashoda was addressing a gathering of taluk Akshara Dasoha workers meet held at Lions Seva Mandir, B C Road here on Sunday March 13. Yashoda alleged that the move would jeopardize the future of thousands of Akshara Dasoha workers. It’s an attempt by the state administration to deny benefits to Akshara Dasoha workers by awarding the contract to private caterers, alleged CITU.

Meanwhile, CITU urged the support of Akshara Dasoha workers to stage united struggle in availing more state benefits including higher honorarium.

The association district president Girija Moodbidri said that the oppression on Akshara Dasoha workers is an injustice by the state administration that has the social responsibility of providing minimum wages and social benefits.

CITU district chief secretary Vasant Achary said that the united struggle of all Akshara Dasoha workers from across the state can effectively curb the proposed privatisation of Akshara Dasoha programme.

Devaki presided over the Akshara Dasoha workers meet.

Bantwal taluk CITU president Sanjeev Bangera and secretary Ramanna Vittal among others were present.
