Mangalore: ‘Tejana’ – the First Magazine of Capitanio College Released

Mangalore, Apr 1: “A magazine of any educational institution is like a report card of any student which contains records of performance of the institution and documentary evidence of various activities undertaken by the students. It’s a monument which remains forever”, said Hemacharya, editor-in -chief of Daijiwold weekly.

He was speaking after releasing the first magazine of Capitanio Composite pre-university college here at the college auditorium on Thursday March 31.

He further coaxed the students to inculcate reading and writing habits from an early stage. “One can become a doctor or an engineer by sheer hard work but one needs creative mind to become a writer”, he said. Also he expressed anguish at increasing ratio of suicide cases among teenagers. “Confide in your loving teachers if you have a problem, don’t end your life, life is a gift from God, you have no right to end it abruptly” – he stressed.

Sr Irene Jane D’Souza, provincial superior and president of sisters of charity presided. She said that the college is progressing with a good planning and vision. 1,000 miles journey begins with a single step.  To bring out a magazine is not an easy task. It needs commitment, knowledge, initiative and creativity and these efforts bring out the changes and transformation in the society.

Sudheer Shetty, city corporator and chief whip of MCC who came as a guest appreciated the dedication of sisters of charity and progress of Capitanio educational institutions and highlighted the results of the previous years.

Other guest, Sr Inez Rasquinha, The first Principal of the college wished good luck to the students, reminding them that they are the future of the tomorrow and called to be the good citizen of the nation and build a strong nation.

Sr Grace Joseph, secretary, sisters of charity educational society advised the students that they have to prepare well for facing the future and to remember the Alma mater always. The programme began with prayer song by the students followed by a shower dance. School correspondent   Sr Humbeline welcomed the gathering and Sr Harriet Pinto, principal, proposed the vote of thanks. Lavina Albuquerque and Vijayaliaxmi conducted the programme attended by well wishers of the school, teachers and students in large number.
