Mangaluru, Aug 17: The 16th batch of the Father Muller College (Speech and Hearing) was ushered into the college with the course inauguration on August 2022 by chief guest Dr U T Ifthikar Ali, presided by Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director of the Father Muller Charitable Institutions.
The day marked the new academic beginnings into a professional course by 40 students who have enrolled themselves to the bachelors programme in Speech and Language Pathology. Since its inception the Father Muller College in 2007 has embarked on academic excellence, cultural and sports impetus and public presentations through conferences and seminars.
The welcome was delivered by Dr Akhilesh, principal of the Father Muller College who also introduced the chief guest and descriptive of the course and academic results.
A video of the Father Muller College (Speech and Hearing) was released showcasing the academic and clinical workings of the department.
Dr U T Ifthikar Ali in his address to the students and parents was proud to be associated with the Father Muller Charitable Institutions and moreover with Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, who he termed as the most hardworking and persistent person to get things done for his Institutions. He praised the efforts taken by the Institutions for organizing events and conferences and being a place of spiritual and academic abode. Dr Ifthikar reminisced the fact that even though a sport physiotherapist his love for speech and hearing began when his father late Haji U T Fareed while a sitting MLA lost his voice due to stroke. His love for the branch of speech and hearing made him open a college in Bengaluru in the name of late Mother. He concluded by saying that if anyone wants to study the undergraduate medical and paramedical profession, Father Muller Charitable Institutions would be the best.
Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho in his presidential address spoke on the magnanimity of the Institutions development of fraternal brotherhood and inculcation of humanitarian values. The spiritual and academic atmosphere never discriminated but held all on equal standing. This is not seen today in the society with communal discord and hate towards each other. There is need of the youth of today to be understanding and caring of others. People with disability have to be given a chance to be part of the mainstream as they are our own. Differently abled though a much soothing term needs the human in every one of us understand the value of every individual and their contribution to society. He advised the students to be A- Attitude of righteousness, B – Behaviour of excellence and compassion, C – Commitment to their work and profession, D- Disciplined lifestyle; all these would make you a better student, professional and an individual.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Cynthia Santhomayer, vice principal of the Father Muller College. On the dais were also Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais, assistant administrator FMMCH and FMC. Present were the members of the management committee, advisory committee and the faculty, students and parents. Viona and Akshaya Grade 1 SLP faculty compeered the event.
The programme was followed by self introduction session and a general orientation of the FMCI and its campus by the director FMCI. The parents-teachers association meeting was held thereafter followed by in-house academic discussion.
