Bengaluru, Aug 19:Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai has suggested the state government officials to coordinate with universities having expertise in urban planning for the implementation of environment-friendly Smart Integrated Township in each division as announced in the state budget.

Reviewing the progress of Integrated Township schemes in Bengaluru on Friday, he said Singapore University and other universities were having the special expertise in urban planning, and their assistance of those varsities could be taken.

Bommai said these townships are environment-friendly and smart cities, and there must be housing, infrastructure, academic facilities, health services, commercial activities and good transport connectivity with provision to start Industries near them.

He said proposals have been accepted from various districts for the township on the basis of land availability. As it would be developed with private coordination the concept papers must be prepared and submitted to him, Bommai noted.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary N Manjunath Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner I S N Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary (Department of Industries and Commerce) Dr E V Ramana Reddy, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) Rakesh Singh, Secretary Dr Ajay Nagabhushan and others.
