Bantwal, Apr 17: The celebration at infants Jesus church, Modankap began with the blessing of palms on the Holy Hill by Fr Roque D'Souza, parish priest and Fr Ivan D’Souza, assistant parish priest.
The palms were distributed among the gathering the devotees then carried the palms and walked into the procession led by the priets towards the church for the Eucharistic celebration. The hymns were sung and prayers were chanted all through the procession. The procession with the palm commemorates the episodes when Jesus was welcomed into Jerusalem where he was crucified.
The Eucharistic celebration was followed by the procession. The devotees took part in the whole ceremony which marked the beginning of the holy week prior to Easter.
