Bantwal, Sep 5: “Though it is necessary to grow children without making them suffer from difficulties, they should learn to face problems in life,” said Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik.

He was speaking after inaugurating a programme organised by the department of school education and literacy and Bantwal taluk teacher’s day celebration committee. The programme was held at the Modankap Infant Jesus church auditorium to celebrate teacher’s day in memory of the birth anniversary of education scholar and former president of India Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.

“While teachers take the part of sculptors in bringing children to the right path, good values should be taught to them at homes as well,” he said.

Mangaluru Ramakrishna Pre-University College principal Professor M Balakrishna Shety gave a lecture. A book written by Bantwal block education officer Jnanesh K P was released. A book by Tarananth Kairangala was also introduced.

Member of Vidhana Parishat Bhoje Gowda, Infant Jesus church parish priest Fr Valerian D’ Souza, Bantwal municipal council president Mohammed Sharif, Buda president Devadas Shetty, Bernard Saldanha, education convener Sujatha Kumari, Sudha, B R P Vidya, Ravindra, Channappa, government employees association president Umanath Rai, president of India award recipient teacher Ramesh Nayak, teacher’s association’s Narayana Poojary, Jathappa Gowda, Muralikrishna B K Bhandary, Jayarama B, Santhosh Kumar, Rev Melwin Nonayya, Naik, Vishnu Hebbar and others were on the dais. Retired teachers and award recipient teachers were felicitated.

Block education officer Jnanesh K P welcomed. Ramachandra Rao compered the programme. Coordinating Officer Raghavendra Ballal rendered the vote of thanks. Teachers performed Janapada Vaibhava programme under the guidance of C R P Pradeep prior to the hall programme.
