Udupi, Sep 5: Additional JMFC judge has sentenced a two wheeler rider to two years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs ten thousand for riding his vehicle negligently, hitting a pedestrian and causing his death.

Udyavar Koppa resident Darshan rode his bike in a negligent manner on Manipal – Udupi one way road at about 4.45 PM on September 4, 2018 and rammed into to Siddeshwarappa, a pedestrian walking on the road near T M A Pai science mandira, M G M college, Shivalli village.

Siddeshwarappa fell as a result and suffered critical injuries to his head and died.

The police circle inspector of Udupi traffic police station had registered a case and submitted a charge sheet to the court. As the guilt was proven, additional C J and JMFC court judge Sham Prakash sentenced him to imprisonment for two years and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on Darshan.
Public prosecutor Mohini K had argued the case for the state.
