Kundapur, Sep 7: The 32nd scientific conference will be held by Indian Psychiatric Association at Koteshwar Yuva Meridian on September 10 and 11, said Dr Prakash Tholar in the press conference held on Wednesday, September 7.

Minister Dr Ashwath Narayan, Jayaprakash Hegde and Nadoja Dr G Shanker will be the guests of honour. Dr Kiran Kumar P K will preside over the inauguration programme on September 10.

Two workshops will be held on September 9 in this connection. The first workshop will be for the journalists. The second workshop from 2 PM to 5 PM is meant for the government doctors in Udupi and IMA Kundapur.

The conference on September 10 and 11 will be centred over the lack of information in the community about mental health.
Psychiatrist K S Karanth said that suicide is a social menace. There will be discussions about it in the conference, he added.

Psychiatrist Dr Mahima Acharya said that ordinary people will be made aware that certain mental illnesses can be cured by intimate discussions.

Conference committee secretary, Manipal Hospital psychiatric department assistant professor Dr Ravindra Munoli provided the details.
