Rapid transformation of education system is need of the hour: Ashwath

Bengaluru, Sept 9: Rapid transformation and changes in the country’s education system was necessary for achieving economic progress and prosperity, Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan said on Friday.

Inaugurating a seminar on the best practices in the implementation of national education policy at the Padmashree Management and Science College on Friday at Kommaghatta, he said India has a long way to go when compared to the countries like Japan, Germany, Korea and China, which have successfully brought in revolutionary changes in their education system.


 


Dr Narayan the Narendra Modi regime’s NEP introduced after a gap of 34 years was the best suited to meet the challenges of globalisation. In the era of globalisation, mere numbers do not matter but skills and expertise are crucial.

In the present open era, multi-discipline learning and skills development as well as upgradation are key. The NEP covers almost all important aspects to meet the challenges of the present times, he said.

The minister emphasised the need for encouraging and fostering institutions of excellence in education as also improvements in the teaching methodology.
