Udupi: Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society to hold AGM on Sep 11

Udupi, Sep 10: “The annual general body meeting of Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society (BCCS), Udupi chaired by president Sanjeev Kanchan, will be held on Sunday, September 11, at Smt Ammanni Ramanna Shetty auditorium Udupi,” said Indrali Jayakar Shetty, special duty executive officer.

Addressing a press meet here at Hotel Diana on Saturday, September 10 he said, “Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society is 104 years old and was founded by Jagannath Ballal in 1918. There are ten branches in and around Udupi, which are all fully computerized branches such as Indrali, Bailur – Korangrapady, Udyavara, Ambagilu, Udupi, Malpe, Shirva, Kukkikatte and Manipal out of which nine offices are operating in their own building. The Manipal branch is operating from a leased building and has earmarked land to build its own branch near Ammanni Ramanna Shetty hall.

“The society has received the national level NCDC award twice, Best Karnataka State Cooperative award seven times and this is the only bank that has won recognition in undivided Dakshina Kannada district 16 times for its excellence in service.

“The total share capital of the society is Rs 4.74 crore with deposits of Rs 401.50 crore and external debt of Rs 295.11 crore and has 18,860 members for the financial year 2020-21.

“Currently, the society has total deposits of Rs 409.52 crore and total debt of Rs 316 crore at the end of August. The total net profit is Rs 11.02 crore for the financial year 2020 -21. It is likely to declare a 15 per cent dividend to its members during the AGM.

“Children of the members, who have passed with distinction scores in SSLC, PUC, will be honoured on the occasion.

“The society has spent Rs 1.40 crores on social service activities during its centenary celebration. It created awareness about pandemic among its members and clients. It distributed good quality masks and sanitisers to the public and civic workers. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the society had distributed groceries and commodities to the poor, backward, migrants and those who had no ration cards and it also extended financial aid to ASHA workers.

“The society donated an ICU ventilator to Lombard Memorial hospital costing about Rs 6 lac. It had also organised a free Covid-19 vaccination campaign for the public. Financial aids were given to daily collectors and office cleaning workers. The society had also donated Rs 5 lac to Chief Minister Covid Relief Fund. It is also investing Rs 15 lac on education, social and health awareness programmes every year.

“BCCS always kept in touch with its clients even during the pandemic period. The bank offers several facilities like safe locker, E-stamping, PAN card, NEFT/RTGS , Western Union Money Transfer, riya Money transfer, IMPS system, Virtual payment, Host to host, Lombard health card, Manipal health card, Bhagyalakshmi, Micro insurance Life insurance policy, Vehicle, property and health insurance policy with all the 10 branches providing fully equipped service,” he said.
