Udupi, Sep 10: In a unique incident reported from Hebri Santhekatte in the district, an elderly couple, died 24 hours apart after spending decades together.

Jnanadev Kamath Santhekatte (80), resident of Hebri Santhekatte and entrepreneur passed away on September 10. His wife Sulatha Kamath (76) had died on September 9.

Jnanadev is survived by a son and three daughters. He was active in several organizations and identified in social work. He used to donate money to local schools and other local organizations.

He was interested in literature and had written several stories and poems. He used to get books printed and distributed free of charge. His article titled ‘Jomla Kashi’ was famous. Several people had gone on pilgrimage to Jomla after his article was published, say locals.
