Udupi: Results of Table Tennis Tournament held in Udupi on September 4

Udupi, Sep 12: Udupi District Table Tennis Association and Dakshina Kannada District Table Tennis Association in conjunction with Udupi Sports and Cultural Foundation and Padukone Table Tennis Centre for Excellence, organised a District-ranking Table Tennis Tournament at the Tennis Indoor Stadium, Ajjarkad, Udupi, to celebrate National Sports Day on September 4. A total of 15 events were conducted with a whopping number of 309 matches played on a single day. 164 participants (47 female and 117 male players) from across Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts participated in this mega event. Around 15 volunteers and three officials facilitated the conduct of the matches in an organized way.

The inaugural function was presided over by the president of Torpedoes sports Club, Gowtham Shetty. Also, I K Jayachandra Rao, secretary of Udupi District table tennis association was present along with Dinesh Shenoy, director of Budha Enterprises - Bengaluru, who was the cash prize sponsor for the tournament. Shrirama Kaudoor of Udupi Sports and Cultural Foundation and Ashwin Kumar Padukone of Padukone Table Tennis Centre for Excellence convened the whole event.

The results of the tournaments are as below.

I K Jayachandra Rao, along with professor Shashikantha Koudur, professor, NITK Surathkal, president of Udupi Sports and Cultural Foundation, gave away prizes to the winners and runners up. 84 trophies were distributed amongst the winners along with a cash prize of Rs 33,000/-. Overall, the event was a great success.
