'Amchea Xetachi Pavnni' to be staged across Goa

Panaji, Jan 30:
As a part of the centenary celebrations, Aleixinho de Candolim Birth Centenary Celebration Committee and Kala Mogi, Candolim in collaboration with Tiatr Academy of Goa will be staging one of the most popular tiatrs of veteran tiatrist late Aleixinho de Candolim shortly.

The tiatr entitled ‘Amchea Xetachio Pavnni’ is directed by Tomazinho Cardozo and will be staged in Goa as follows:

February 4 at 7.30 pm at St Theresa’s Open Air Hall, Candolim. The popular tiatr artiste of yesteryear Ciriaco Dias will be the chief guest.

February 5 at 7 pm at the Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, near Police Headqusrters, Panjim. Vice President of TAG, Joe Rose will be the chief guest.

February 6 at 7.45 pm at the Pai Tiatrist Hall, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. Prince Jacob, President of TAG will grace the function as the chief guest.

 
In all Aleixinho de Candolim scripted, directed and staged 27 tiatrs. These were staged in Goa as well as in Bombay.

Some of his most popular tiatrs are: ‘Mhatarponn’, ‘Goycho Posorkar’, ‘Amcho Pordes’, ‘Mhojo Ghov Basurkar’, ‘To Bavtto Dhormancho’, ‘Ram Ram Baoji’, ‘Sonvsarant Konn Konnacho’, ‘Omtea Kollxear Udok’ and ‘Amchea Xetachi Pavnni’.  Most of his tiatrs were based on social issues existing at that time in the Goan society.
 
‘Amchea Xetachi Pavnni’ was his last tiatr which was staged soon after the Liberation of Goa. In fact it was staged in 1962. It deals with the dictatorial attitudes of landlords of Goa in the Portuguese era.
 
‘Amchea Xetachi Pavnni’ features award winning artistes of Kala Mogi Candolim. The stage setting is by Timothy Dias, Live music by Luis Cota, Light Effects by Dnanjay Phalkar, Background music by Joy Fernandes, Make-up by Shantaram Pawar and it is directed by Tomazinho Cardozo.
 
The entry will be free. All tiatr lovers are requested to attend and celebrate late Aleixinho de Candolim – one of the gretest stars of Konkani tiatr stage.
