Udupi, Apr 23: After the two-year-long pause for social interactions and cultural events due to the pandemic, the student council of Manipal School of Architecture and Planning organized the annual fest, Opus Lite 2022, as a reason to celebrate its students coming back to the campus.
The fest was organized on Saturday, April 23, from 6 PM onwards. Over 900 people, including students across all the programmes, faculties, and staff of the institute, participated in the event.
Opus Lite 2022 brought forth the much-needed interactions between students from different programs and batches while providing a stage for the students and faculties to showcase their cultural talents.
After the welcome dance, the inaugural lights were lit for the event, as Dr Nandineni Ramadevi, Director of Manipal School of Architecture and Planning, welcomed the gathering to fuel the pent-up energy and emotions of the crowd, which were held back for the last two years.
The occasion was graced by the chief guest Dr PLNG Rao and special invitees Dr Geetha Maiya and Dr. Somashekara Bhat. They motivated the young crowd by addressing the gathering and distributing different academic awards to students. Faculties were also appreciated for participating in different cultural and co-curricular activities.
Followed by this, the investiture ceremony of the student council successfully took place by handing over the different forum head positions to the newly elected students. After which, a vivid and vibrant informal event where performances from students of all batches and faculties across the programmes made the fraternity relish the gathering.
The cultural events highlighted both the students and faculty showing their talents. While the faculty showed off their skills through a fashion show and through dances, highlighting both traditional and western styles. The students showed they have what it takes when it comes to dancing, singing, and ramp walks. Each batch performed one at a time and made sure to leave an impression with each performance.
The event wrapped up with the fourth year bathches' procession and performance, which followed right after.
