Daijiworld Media Network – Hyderabad (SP)
Hyderabad, May 2: Even as the people are eagerly awaiting the selection of the next head of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust after the demise of its spiritual head, Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the trust has decided to hand over the responsibility of managing ‘Vidyavahini’, an ambitious project of the trust, to Satyajit, a native of Mangalore, who was very close to the Baba during the last 15 years. Satyajit was involved with the implementation of ‘Vidyavahini’ project, conceptualized by Baba, in the initial stages.
There are claims that this step has been taken to assuage the feelings of Satyajit, who is mourning the death of his mentor and guru. There are others who argue that this is a ploy to keep Satyajit away from the corridors of power. Sources said that Satyajit remained aloof after the death of Sathya Sai Baba, and that some trustees decided to give him some responsibility.
The said scheme envisages providing higher education to the poor children. A separate ‘Vidyavahini Trust’ was set up for the purpose. This trust runs 99 schools in India and 33 more in 33 countries at the rate one school each, in them.
The timing of the decision, which has come out at a time when the selection of a new chairman to Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust is drawing nearer, has aroused interest and curiosity among the people.
