Kasargod, Nov 18: Manjeshwar station police on Friday, November 18, have slapped booked cases of attempt to murder and under Pocso Act against the man accused of lifting and slamming on the ground a 9-year-old girl rendering her unconscious on Thursday.
The police had arrested the accused Kunjathur Udyavar resident Aboobacker Siddik (30) on Thursday for brutally assaulting the girl.
On Thursday morning, Siddik had rushed towards the 9-year-old girl who was on her way to the Madrasa, lifted the girl and slammed her to the ground, a viral video of which had led to widespread outrage.
The girl had gone unconscious and was admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.
The girl has recovered and the police have taken a statement from her.
The accused was produced before Kasargod court and remanded to judicial custody.
