Bantwal: High school boy kills self by hanging day before class test

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (DRD)

Bantwal, Jan 8: A boy studying in eighth grade killed himself by hanging at his house in Punacha village here on Sunday, January 8.

The deceased is Hemanth, son of Punacha village resident Manila Ravindra Gowda.

Hemanth was a student of Sri Devi Vidya Kendra's high school.

When the whole family was away to attend the Irumudi ritual for deity Ayyappa Swamy's devotees in Punacha's Mahishamardhini temple, Hemanth hung himself by an iron rod fixed to the wall using an old skirt.

He had attended a pooja in the morning but stayed back at home in the evening telling his family members stating that he had to prepare for next day's class test when they called him to the temple.

Suicide is not a solution to any problem. Kindly seek the help of mental health experts if you are under any kind of distress. Call toll free helpline number 9152987821.

I agree with Mr. Manohar, these small kids have so much pressure on studies. We hear lot of information on education from western countries mostly same age group our children's cousins. Until 7 years old hardly they write but encouraged to read. Taught lessons by creative programs where as our kids should struggle with kannada ,hindi projects, and extra curricular activiy. Besides this every child goes for tution. Please bring a change so that our kids can live their childhood.

Eva Kirem ,yes you are right. Here children in kG.two or three years need not learn anything .They can be children playing and dancing etc singing or culturell activities .Later when school year beginns ,a doctor comes and tests if a child is able to study in school ,his mental developement. Then only he can be admitted in school .That too if a student is not full concentrating stage he will be sent to a school where slow staged school with slow learning process.Later they can if wanted change the school -.Thats walldorf school they say.slow and without stress.Intelligent children can go to a different school(Genies)children need not proove in KG if they can read or write like in India.

One single Board is solution for all, but schoolmafias are opposing while every ruling government is with mafia. Present syllabus with 50% of waste subjects should go . There should be options for children to take up any one subject including languages like science or mathematics or sociology or psychology or geography or with 2 languages like US and advanced countries. For average students including all the subjects will be a disaster.

Indeed a very sad story.May almighty give patience to the family. Nowadays we should not pressure too much on kids, we need to understand what they want. We need to be friendly with them & know their requirement. Even in studies we should nor force them

Shocking news. When such small children start to kill themselves how can parents depend on them or they can believe in their movements? What was the reason here not revealed. Was a fight between parents for not giving phone or in school activities? Many have killed themselves for not giving a mobile.Children dont understand the parents financial situation for providing mobile or other problems.Heartfelt sympathy to family for loosing him a small boy this way.May his soul rest in peace.Even suicide also doesnt bring any help to deceased one .
