Mangaluru, Jan 18: MLA of city south legislative constituency, Vedavyas Kamath said that he will personally give a new auto rickshaw to Purushottam Poojary, who was injured in the cooker bomb blast which occurred in the city on November 19 last year.
Speaking to reporters, Kamath said, “I will new auto rickshaw to Poojary from my personal fund. I have instructed the RTO officials to provide permit to the new auto rickshaw based on the old permit which he has. When the auto rickshaw will be handed over to Poojary, Rs five lac compensation from the BJP will also be given in 10-12 days.
“The deputy commissioner has sent proposal for the compensation that the government will provide to Poojary. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and minister Sunil Kumar have already drawn the attention of the chief minister towards the issue and it is expected that the compensation will be released shortly.
“The cooker bomb blast is a horrible act. Innocent Poojary got injured in this. But some people are trying to politicise the issue. Some politicians who have called the person who blasted the bomb as innocent have not said that Poojary is innocent.
“For us, improvement in health and livelihood of Poojary is more important than politics. So we are managing all responsibilities for him. We are in constant touch with his family.
“He cannot work at present. If he gives his auto on rent, he will get some income. We will provide financial help for the marriage of his daughter also,” he said.
Kamath called ARTO Vishwanath Naik to the spot and instructed him to take action to provide permit to the new auto rickshaw.
