Mangaluru, Feb 20: The mortal remains of a home alone woman were found in decomposed state in the kitchen of her house at Deradka near Harekala on the outskirts of the city.

The deceased is identified as Maggi Monteiro (62), wife of Jeeni D’Souza, a resident of Deradka, Harekala.

The daughter of deceased woman had visited mother on February 16 and left. After the visit, when her mother did not pick up the phone for three days, the daughter visited the house again and saw the mortal remains of her mother in decomposed state lying in the kitchen near the stove.

Konaje police suspect that the woman must have fallen due to sickness and received head injury and died. Maggi Monteiro was not communicating with the locals and was living alone on three acres of land and a house. Her only son was also not staying with the mother. When she used to speak rarely with locals, she used to speak about Guliga daiva as per the reactions of locals on her death.

Konaje police have registered a case and are probing further.

Without knowing the actual situation, it would be wise if people would stop passing comments. It's easier for people to give solutions to others problems rather than solve their own. Instead pray that her soul may rest in peace 🙏

If the church was indeed into forcible conversions, the whole of world would have been Christians. Dont worry about us. Worry about all the sad deaths and rapes of your people.

Pintu Singh Kudla What do you know exactly about this lady to comment so?Did you ever there to help her ?May be she was sick and fell and died :Noone of us know it.So first say a prayer to her soul .Very sad she was alone and sick.look how the situation of a person staying alone and others didnt contact her.I wont say heartfelt sympathy to her son .Because it looks like she had no contact with her son ,and he with her.May be children too are far away?Or did children fight for the land she owns ,thats why he is not coming and left alone? As age goes by depression or sickness increases.was it so?God only knows .She may be not willing to part to children till she lives?May her soul rest in peace.

Yes you are right. As we beling to church, church should take responsubility to see that alone people are taken care of. Assugn a nearest family person to talk to them daily basis. We have small community which was implemented in recent years . This group can take care of their own member family. As Rita said yelderly people have their own tantrums due to depression, seeking attention, dignity and independance

Really a shame. May her soul rest in peace. I wonder when she was so poorly the family should have taken her in or couple of weeks. At one time we had a very caring society but everything has changed now a days with divided communities.

This is were catholic spirit should work. We have so many associations and pastoral commissions, small Christian communities...I think we should reach out who are in distress and living alone even though they are silent or sometimes harsh due to their depression. More and more elderly are becoming lonely. There should be a plan in parish levels to be in touch with them. Very sad. Let her soul rest in peace.

Bro !! This is the tragic situation afflicting our community... We believe in providing assistance to others, but neglect our needy brethren in distress... Children dump their parents, but will scramble for monetary gains... RIP !!!

Mr Almeida(??)... you know nothing about how the church helps the poor and needy. Don't yap with one sided yellowed views. SVP checks all families in the church and help those who are in need. First put your house, brain in order.

Dont blame children. Elders also equally responsible for these type of incidents. She is having 3 Acre of land... also only son and daughter. But she cant adjust with them, it means something must be happen related to property issue. Even I am facing the same situation. We trusted our 'elders' and built a 3 floor building on their 3.5 cents site without any agreement. Now they are claiming that 'ZAGO AMCHO....' (land is mine...) Thank God... Housing lone is in our name. 20 years no problem. but civil case running is in court.

Manoj, I do agree with your comments to a great extent. In this case, might be the deceased lady was going through a depression as she is a widower. There was time, people used to express their feelings, with each other. The era of external fast development and mobile , has ruined the personal touch with our own neighbours. Children could have helped here by spending more time. But they too have their own problems. Parents do not compromise and understands the married children problems. Some people are not willing to compromise and flexible .
