Mangaluru: St Ann’s College of Education celebrates Graduation Day

Mangaluru, Mar 24: Graduation Day recognises the outstanding efforts of the M Ed and B Ed teacher trainees as they fly out of the portals of St Ann’s College of Education (Autonomous) as full-fledged teachers.

The programme began by invoking god’s blessings. Dr Sr Dorothy D’Souza A C principal, welcomed the chief guest of the function, Dr Gerald Santhosh D'Souza, dean, faculty of education, and director, department of physical education, Mangalore University. Sr Marie Lucy A C, joint secretary of St Ann’s Institutions and superior, St Ann’s Convent, Mangaluru was the president of the programme, Dr Sr Maria Roopa A C administrator and Dr Flosy D’Souza, controller of examinations were present.

The chief guest Dr Gerald Santhosh D’Souza delivered the graduation address and emphasized on holistic development of students and called them to be pragmatic in nature. He also focused on having ethical considerations in teaching and quoted John Dewey who said, “Education is life itself.”

The rank holders Fathimath Zabeena, Rita Zita Alva, Deyan Maveena Crasta of B Ed, Joby Varghese and Swathi of M Ed and deserving students of founded prizes B Ed and M Ed batches (2020-22) were felicitated with gold medals by the chief guest and the president of the programme.

Shwetha compered the event and Sr Zeena Periera AC, vice principal and convener of graduation day a proposed vote of thanks.

The graduation day ceremony was witnessed by an audience of 53 B Ed and M Ed graduates and their parents, teaching and non-teaching faculty, sisters in the campus, alumnae and students.
