Bhopal, Jun 26: The opposition may have its own reasons to dislike Digvijay Singh, but for Congress, his boldness has proved to be something it can neither swallow not spit out.
The Congress general secretary, especially over the recent weeks has been much in the news, right from projecting Rahul Gandhi as the PM-in-waiting to brandishing his sword at Baba Ramdev and his controversial fast against corruption. 'Diggy Raja' as he is known, the 64-year-old has become quite a tricky political leader, both for the opposition and for Congress, which often finds itself in a conundrum over his remarks.
The two-time Madhya Pradesh chief minister was born in Raghogarh royal principality in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. He was the chief minister of his state between 1993 and 2003.
His grip on party affairs in the state as well as at the centre is become stronger over the days. He has been in the forefront of handling the Ramdev mess and has not backed down from attacking right wing groups over terrorism.
A political analyst opined that Digvijay's remarks over right wing terrorism has given Congress an edge over BJP.
Sources said that Digvijay even had a major hand in the appointment of Kantilal Bhuria as the Madhya Pradesh chief Congress commitee chief and the new leader of opposition Ajay Singh.
Rasheed Kidwai who is a close follower of Congress affairs, opines that Digvijay's sponteinity makes up for the demureness of Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
But it's not every time that the Digvijay magic works for the Congress, like when he addressed Osama as 'Osamaji' leaving his party in a tight spot over the issue of handling terrorism.
