Bantwal, April 3: Nelli Lena Monteiro (52), residing at Kallige grama, Bantwal has been cheated of Rs 6,30,000 by a person who promised to provide jobs to her children in Bulgaria.

She had come to know the accused V R Sudhir Rao, a resident of Bejai cross road, Mangaluru who promised to arrange jobs for her children in Bulgaria. He received payments of Rs 2,83,800 in cash on B C Road on February 22, Rs 50 and Rs 84,950 via google pay on December 12, 2022, Rs 71,000 on January 13, Rs 60,000 on February 14, Rs 16,000 on February 27, Rs 2,500 on January 10, Rs 2,100 on January 17, Rs 49,000 on February 27 and Rs 45,000 on February 14 transferred to his Karnataka Bank account in Bengaluru bearing the account number: 130250010211850.

He asked Nelli's children to come to Mumbai on March 19, obtained Rs 15,600 from them saying that he will bring jackets for them as it is quite cold in Bulgaria but never returned. His mobile was found switched off.
