Beltangady: I-T raid on Congress leader's properties - Rs 63 lac cash, gold, documents seized

Beltangady, Apr 25: Income Tax (IT) sleuths raided the house and educational institution owned by former minister and president of Prasanna educational institutions K Gangadhar Gowda on the early morning of Monday.

In the verification that began at 7.30 am and went on till 10.30 pm, by more than 20 officers who arrived in five cars, as per the preliminary information, Rs 63 lac cash, golden ornaments and business documents including that of the college are confiscated.

Gangadhar Gowda was nominated as the vice president of KPCC on April 23. The raid by IT department on the very next day has resulted in accusing and counter accusing of political parties on social media.

During the raid Gangadhar Gowda, his wife Prasanna, daughter Dr Reshma, son, president of Beltangady Block rural Congress president Ranjan G Gowda and his wife Yashma were present.

Gangadhar Gowda and son Ranjan Gowda said, “We have provided suitable documents during the raid by the IT sleuths. We are not distracted by the raid. All our documents are up to date. Officials have done their duty. Eminent leaders of the district and state have called me and inquired about the raid. We will provide suitable documents in future.”

    63 Lakhs ??? Lottery ?? Shame.. shame.. It won't even make the salary of a of all the staff utilized for the task. Came in search of an elephant but found only a rat. Why aren't you raiding your donors, MP, MLAs ??

    Big rat (63 lakhs) found in house alone. Elephants may be hiding in different banks in disguises.

    Elephants in other party's bank accounts if escaped from BJP members like Maadal. Disprove the assumption by raiding those who took 40% of each and every contract floated.
