Mangaluru: Catholic Sabha Bondel celebrates silver jubilee, Tulu drama ‘Nayida Beela' staged

Mangaluru, May 2: The Catholic Sabha Bondel unit organised ‘Nayida Beela' Tulu drama on the occasion of its silver jubilee on Sunday, May 1 at St Lawrence English Medium School ground.

The programme began with a prayer song led by Dr Suraj and his team invoking God's blessings. Lancy D’Cunha, founder president of the Catholic Sabha-Bondel unit, welcomed the gathering. He presented a short report and the project work done by the Catholic Sabha over the past 25 years. Members offered flower bouquets to the guests on the dais.

Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, Parish priest and spiritual director of catholic Sabha, Lancy D'Cunha, founder president, John D'Silva, vice president, parish pastoral council, Santhosh Misquith, secretary, parish pastoral council, Steph D'Silva, president, Catholic Sabha Bondel unit, Henbert Pinto, newly-elected president, Colin Miranda-city varado president, and Alwyn D'Souza, secretary, Catholic Sabha Bondel were present.

Joy was expressed on the occasion of the silver jubilee celebration when balloons were released into the air by the guests on the dais.

Chandravati (70), a resident of Kudupu Ayara Mane, is the woman who saved the lives of scores of passengers on the train from a possible train accident. She was felicitated with a shawl, a bouquet of flowers and fruits, and a memento by the Catholic Sabha Bondel unit.

In his address, Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, took note of the important role that the Catholic Sabha plays in church affairs and extolled the gathering to continue the good work, not only within the community, but, also beyond the church boundaries, in society at large.

The Catholic Sabha Bondel unit donated 30 school benches, 30 desks, and a water purifier to St Lawrence Higher Primary School headmistress Helen Fernandes (Kannada Medium) Bondel and donated financial help for the centenary memorial projects of the St Lawrence Church.

The programme was compered by Wilfred Alvares, and Stephen D'Silva, president of the Catholic Sabha proposed the vote of thanks.

After the stage programme, parishioners and people around witnessed the heart-warming drama ‘Nayida Bila’ written and directed by Dr Devadas Kapikad along with senior artiste Arvind Bolar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor & team.
