Mangaluru, Jul 18: Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Permannur celebrated Vanamahotsava – 2023 on July 16 in the church premises after the 7.30 am mass. The programme began with a prayer song.

President Flavitha D'Souza welcomed the gathering. Assistant parish priest Fr Steevan Cutniho presided over the programme. In his presidential speech, he highlighted the importance of growing plants and trees around us.

Cyril Robert D'Souza, second grade assistant, Department of Horticulture, Mangaluru was the chief guest, who in his speech, threw light on how we need to plant more saplings and take care of it. Bethany convent superior, Sr Joseph Mary, Aloysius Convent Nehrunagar superior Sr Marriatte, parish pastoral council vice president Arun D'Souza and secretary Jyothi D'Souza, ICYM animator Deril D'Souza were the other guests on the dias.

The programme was inaugurated in a creative way symbolizing the need to grow plants. Saplings were distributed to the parishioners. ICYM secretary Wilson Tellis proposed a vote of thanks. Roshni Apos compered the programme.

After the programme, all the members of ICYM planted saplings around the church premises.
