Udupi: Teachers' Day celebrated at SMVITM

Udupi, Sep 5: The ISTE Faculty Chapter and Extracurricular Cell of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal celebrated Teachers’ Day in commemoration of the birthday of the teaching legend Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan at the institute premises.

Professor Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal, in his presidential speech, highlighted the importance of quality teaching and honest in the society.

Kudi Vasanth Shetty, National Best Teacher awardee and retired high school headmaster, was the chief guest for the event. He started by letting the audience know how he chose the field of teaching. He also mentioned that the first teacher of any student is their mother. "The student life is centered by three gurus-mother, father and teacher," he said. He beautifully mentioned the sacrifice that parents make to nurture and shape the life of their wards. He also gave examples of real life issues which added values to student-teacher relationships. He made the audience ponder with richness of thoughts to respect parents and teachers.

Rathnakumar addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of values that need to be imbibed by the students for a better society.

Later, chief guest KudiVasanth Shetty felicitated the winners of ‘Tug of War’ conducted on National Sports Day held on August 29.

The memento was given to the chief guest by guest of honor as a mark of gratitude and the event culminated with a vote of thanks by Pratham, second year- AI-DS student. The event began with Hithashree invoking the divine blessings followed by the welcome address by Ankitha Shet, student of fourth year ECE. The master of ceremony was Vaishnavi, second year CSE student. All the SMVITM family members were present for the gathering.
