Moscow, Aug 12 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Lightning struck a bus with German tourists near Russia's western city of Kaliningrad, but no one among the 19 passengers was injured, officials said.
Tamara Toropova, chairwoman of the regional tourist association, said: "The bus, a Setra, was absolutely new - it was literally stuffed with electronic gadgets. Near the entrance to the city, some 30 km from it, lightning struck the lightning rod antenna, spread over the vehicle, headed toward the power supply unit and then exploded."
She said the lightning also blew off three of the bus's tyres.
The vehicle has become irreparable. It will be taken to Germany by ferry.
