Udupi, Nov 22: Praveen Chowgule, the accused in Nejar quadruple murder case was sent to judicial custody till December 5. Chowgule was presented before the Udupi JMFC court by Malpe police on Wednesday November 22.
The questioning of the accused in the quadruple murder case at Nejar has been completed by the police.
He was sent to police custody till November 28. As the investigation is complete, he was was produced in the court before the date.
It is gathered that the police subjected the accused to the inquest process without interruptions. The knife, mask, bag and other items used by him for the murder were found in his flat in Bejai. Police have confiscated a scooter registered on Chowgule’s name parked near a rented room at Bejai of the deceased woman Ainaz.
Chowgule had given his scooter to Ainaz for use after he bought a car for himself.
In the probe, it has come to light that Chowgule had reached the Hejmady toll gate after the murders with the help of bikers and other mode of transportation from outsiders via Santhekatte, Karavali Bypass road. He went from there on his already parked car to the deserted house near Bappanadu and burnt the blood-soaked clothes there. Police have found the remains of the clothes there. He has said during questioning that he directly went to Mangaluru from Bappanadu.
Police have already conducted investigation regarding the house at Nejar where the murders took place, Santhekatte, Karavali Bypass, Hejmady, parts of Mulki, apartment near KPT, two sites near Mangaluru and the own house of the accused at Surathkal. Police said that he will not be escorted to his hometown in Maharashtra as he has been staying in Mangaluru for the last several years.
Praveen has a strong physique and was a wrestler. Therefore, it was possible for him to hack to death four people all by himself. He was produced in front of forensic division doctors to find out if he was under the influence of drugs on the day of murder.
