Udupi: Woman scammed of lacs of money in job abroad scam

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Dec 17: A woman has fallen victim to a scam involving the promise of a job abroad, losing lakhs of rupees to an unknown individual.

The victim, Ima V, received a WhatsApp message on her mobile phone from an unknown person claiming to offer her a job abroad. Upon inquiry, the person instructed her to transfer the required funds to a specified bank savings account.

In compliance with the instructions, Ima transferred a total of Rs 7,65,000 through online transactions and step-by-step deposits from August to November 2022.

Despite the monetary transfer, Ima has yet to receive her promised employment visa, and the fraudulent caller has failed to return the money, leading to significant financial losses, as stated in Ima's complaint to the CEN station.
