Kerala, Dec 24: Meera K, a brilliant B Tech graduate in mechanical engineering from the government engineering college of Thrissur in 2016, made the noteworthy decision to resign from a lucrative job obtained through campus selection to pursue her dream of becoming an IAS officer.

Despite securing a highly paid position in her field after completing her B Tech, Meera's passion for civil service led her to attempt the UPSC exams. Her initial attempt in 2017 ended without success, but undeterred, Meera committed herself to UPSC preparation. Rather than opting for coaching in New Delhi, a common choice for aspirants, she returned to her hometown in Kerala.

Enrolling in local private institutes, Meera developed her unique study strategy. Although she cleared the prelims and mains in her second attempt, she fell short by 12 marks in the interview. The third attempt proved challenging as she missed the prelims by just one mark. However, on her fourth attempt, Meera achieved exceptional success, securing an All India Rank of six.

Meera attributes her inspiration to her mother, who emphasized the opportunity to serve the public as an IAS officer. She advises aspirants to identify their strengths and weaknesses, emphasizing the importance of creating a personalized strategy to succeed in the UPSC exams. Meera acknowledges the value of guidance from coaching institutes and toppers but underscores the significance of developing an individualized approach to excel in the examination.
