Puttur, Feb 4: The PG Department of Social Work, St Philomena College in collaboration with FIT India, Institutions’ Innovation Council and MoE Innovation Cell, organized a dynamic one-day workshop titled ‘Yoga and Meditation’ at the PG Seminar Hall.
Preethi Shenoy, a distinguished consultant counsellor from Puttur, served as the resource person for the day, generously shared her expertise in yoga and meditation aiming to equip students with essential skills and also fostered a deeper understanding of the significance of mental health and well-being in their academic and personal lives through Yoga and Meditation practices. Her session focused on teaching students with practical techniques to overcome anxiety and manage daily stresses.
The formal programme was presided over by Dr Antony Prakash Monterio, principal of the college, who highlighted the significance of yoga and meditation in daily lives. Emphasizing the importance of training the mind and cultivating self-discipline, he suggested that these practices are essential in the present times.
Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar, vice principal of the college graced the occasion with his presence on the dais.
The programme began with a prayer rendered by Aparna and team from MSc Computer Science. Srimani, coordinator of the PG Department of Social Work extended a warm welcome. Harshith R, coordinator of the Department of Commerce, proposed a vote of thanks, and the event was compered by Shilpa, assistant professor from the PG Department of Physics.
