Udupi, Feb 14: “More than 15,000 party workers from Udupi district will participate in the Congress party’s state level convention which will be held on February 17,” said Vinaykumar Sorake, former minister.
Speaking at a press conference here in Udupi, Sorake said, “We had shown poor performance in the recent election in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. With an intention to boost up the party workers' enthusiasm, the KPCC has decided to host the convention in Mangaluru. Already observers have been appointed for the mobilisation. KPCC has given responsibilities to leaders for various purposes. Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC president, will inaugurate the convention. State leaders chief minister Siddaramaiah, deputy CM D K Shivakumar, state in-charge Randeep Surjewala, leaders Rosy John, Saleem Ahmed and others will participate in the convention.”
“Arrangements have been made with more than 300 buses for the convention. A large number of party workers from all over the state will also participate in the programme. As many as 20 members from each booth will participate in the Udupi district,” he said.
Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president, district Congress Kishan Hegde Kolkebailu, working president, M A Gaffur, KPCC secretary; Bhasker Rao Kidiyoor, and others were present during the press meet.
