Kundapur, Feb 17: “A footbridge is necessary as it is difficult to cross the highway. A sub library is required at Uppinakudru. There is a dangerous lake near the playground. There are issues with water and street lights. Girls should be taught Karate for self-defence,” said children during Makkala Habba held by Udupi zilla panchayat, Kundapur and Tallur gram panchayat and Namma Bhoomi organization at Sheshakrishna Convention hall, Parthikatte, Tallur on February 17.
Kundapur tahsildar Shobhalakshmi said that the taluk administration and gram panchayat will consider the issues raised by the children seriously and try to solve them. "The children's village meeting is mandatory for the health and moral growth of children. It will stress on the safety of girls, child marriages and eradication of slavery,” she said.
Students and teachers from the schools at Tallur, Uppinakudru, Kotebagilu and Jayarani School took part.
Tallur gram panchayat president Girish Naik who presided over the meeting spoke after receiving the grievances. Vice president Chandramati Hegde, social justice committee president Udaya Kumar, members Sanjiva Devadiga, Krishna Poojary, Radhakrishna Sherugar, Chandra Devadiga, Shivarama Kothary, Akshay, Saroja, Sushila, Rukmini, Lakshmi, former members Jayalakshmi Kothary, Namma Bhoomi organization's Asha, Bandoor BEO Nagesh Naik, Akshara Dasoha assistant director Arun Kumar Shetty, sports officer Kusumakar Shetty, social welfare department's Ramesh Kulal, taluk medical officer Dr Premanand, Gangolli medical officer Dr Amita, CDPO Anuradha, Kundapur SI Vinay Korlahalli, secretary Rathna and others were present.
