Bengaluru, Feb 26: One lakh jobs is the target for the mega two-day Udyog Mela, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the Bengaluru Palace Grounds, said Skills Development and Livelihood Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil on Monday.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the mega job fair, the minister said as many as 75,000 candidates have already registered their names at the job fair and it has elicited response, which is beyond expectations.
Dr Patil explained that eligible candidates with educational qualifications and necessary skills will be offered appointment letters on the spot at the Udyog Mela.
He said the Yuva Nidhi guarantee for unemployed youth has already received tremendous response with over 1.4 lakh unemployed graduates and diploma holders are credited payment of Rs 3,000 a month and Rs 1,500 a month respectively into their bank accounts.
The Udyog Mela will be followed up by organising special skills training programmes and also help the youth to upgrade their skills to be eligible for jobs.
Rural Development and IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge, Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Naseer Ahmed and senior officials are participating in the two-day Udyog Mela.
