Udupi: Sports Summer Camp held at St Mary’s English Medium School

Udupi, Apr 27: A special Summer Sports camp was organized at St Mary's campus from April 1 to 24. The correspondent Fr Charles Menezes, principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira and vice principal Rita S Quadros inaugurated the sports camp and inspirited the participants with his words of motivation. Around 68 students from grade 4 to 8 were trained in football, volleyball, basketball, kho-kho, athletics, table tennis, shuttle badminton and beach workout.

The students were divided into various groups to enhance the competitive spirit among the young sportsmen and to sharpen their leadership skills. Professional gaming skills were taught to the participants by the expert physical education instructor with special emphasis to fitness exercises. The camp also incorporated the yoga and other concentration techniques which aimed to sharpen the mental fitness of campers. The participants were also guided regarding the sports discipline, team spirit and fair play techniques to achieve in them the better sportsmanship attitude.

The valedictory ceremony of the Summer Sports Camp was held on April 24 by rewarding the best performer of boys’ category Sughosh S Jogi grade 4, Chris R D'Souza grade 7 and girls’ category Rashmika Acharya grade 5. The camp was coordinated under the leadership of the physical education instructor of the school Baskar, Renuka, Amitha and Gerald.
