Rain cools Mangaluru, Udupi; yellow alert declared for next four days

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru/Udupi (MS)

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 14: Several parts of the twin districts, which had been reeling under intense heat, found respite as rain showered on Sunday night and early Monday morning.

Rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, began in most parts on Sunday evening. In Udupi, rain showered in the early hours of Monday. While Kundapur and Udupi received moderate rains, Karkala experienced a heavy downpour.

The showers lowered the daytime temperature in both districts. Light rain fell in Mangaluru and its outskirts early Monday morning. A tree was uprooted near Bikkarnakatte, causing a traffic jam for some time. As the day progressed, cloudy weather prevailed, and from the afternoon onwards, there was sunshine as usual.

Various parts of Sullia received copious amounts of rain from night till early morning. In Beltangady, a house was damaged in Kalmanja. At Tekkaru, a retaining wall collapsed due to the rain. Nearly 40 to 45 electrical transformers were damaged due to heavy rains in Beltangady taluk, with the loss estimated to be around Rs 5 lac.

A yellow alert has been declared in the coastal district for the next four days. Heavy rains with thunder are expected, along with high-velocity winds as predicted by the meteorological department.

Mangaluru city recorded a maximum temperature of 33.4°C and a minimum of 23.2°C on Monday. This is expected to decrease by two to four degrees in the next four days, according to the weather department.

Rationality says crossing a rickety bridge is risky, but sometimes a leap of faith is the only way to reach the other side. Fear can paralyze the most rational mind.

I don't understand what faith you are referring to? Was it something like people blindly believing in the fudged data and assurances given by the forever greedy establishment, and taking the killer jabs and quickly goong back to the Creator.... people who had taken the jab 2 years ago, and luckily alive, are still suffering from chronic side effects and cursing their fate😱😔😞🙏

Then why imd given wrong predictions? Its said recently rains may come in july - August. There r no signs of depression in da sea. Hilly areas might get some showrrs and so on blah blah blah. Not even started the rain properly issued colourful alerts which is a big panvathi and bad omen in the beginning of the rain itself. Instead of welcoming. Should deduct salaries for wrong predictions and for filling fears in the hearts of public.

Monty Dotor; rain Gods are very anxiously waiting for June 04; once the results are out, the rain Gods will start dancing their Tandav dance; in between one supplementary appeal has been filed in the SC against the recent EVM judgement, which may push the dates forward! Fingers 🤞 🤞 🤞! Jai Hind!!🙏🙏
