Kasargod: Police arrest second accused in farmer's gold snatching incident

Kasaragod, May 14: Police have arrested another accused in the gold chain snatching incident involving a farmer in which one has been arrested four days ago. 

The arrested is identified as Mohammed Ali alias Azhar (33), a resident of Shanti Angadi, B C Road, Bantwal. The police had arrested another accused Mohammed Suhail of Ullal four days ago who had arrived on a bike and snatched the gold chain from a farmer's neck.

Azhar was arrested from his residence at Shanthi Angadi on the basis of information obtained by Kumble police. Police said that cases of gold chain snatching are pending against him at Kumble, Badiadka, Nileshwar and other police stations.

Suhail and the other accused who arrived on a bike on April 27, had snatched a gold chain weighing two and a half sovereigns from Gopalakrishna Bhat's neck, who is a resident of Kattadamane, Paivalike Chevar Road when he was on the way to his field.

Kumble police had registered a case, collected details from the CCTV footage and conducted investigations. Kumble police had received information that he is working in a chicken shop at Wayanad and had arrested him from there. The police have escorted the accused to the spot of the robbery and collected details.

Police came to know of his involvement in several cases at Badiadka, Kumble, Vidyanagar and Kasaragod police station limits. Investigations are under way. Sub-inspector Ansar, Dinesh, Arif and Srinesh led the arrest operation.

    Sachidand Shetty ;Mundkur,we need not adapt punishment or law from other countries but have to punish just as in our country.But one should be strict and dont show any mercy .Why he is still outside ?Should have put inside long back.These creatures are living on others hard earned money.Hope atleast now make him bend his back .Today sharia law tomorrow something else.Dont dream of it.
