Puttur: St Philomena College student Sudhanva Shyam wins prestigious gold medal

Puttur, May 31: Sudhanva Shyam S, a BSc student from the 2020-23 batch of St Philomena College, has been awarded the esteemed Prof K A Krishnamoorthy mathematics gold medal, established by MGM College, Udupi. This accolade recognizes his outstanding academic performance, having secured the highest percentage of 99.66% in mathematics in the Mangalore University examinations. He also has secured II Rank in Mangalore University examinations 2023. 

The award ceremony took place during the MGM College annual day celebration on May 27

Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, the principal of St Philomena College, commended dedication, and hard work of Sudhanva. “Sudhanva’s achievement is a testament to the high standards of education and the commitment of our students and faculty. We are extremely proud of his accomplishments,” he said.

“This is the third consecutive year that our students have received this prestigious award,” said Thanuja NP, the head of the department, highlighting the consistent academic excellence. Sudhanva Shyam expressed his gratitude for the support extended by his mathematics teachers, Prof Udaya K and Prof Ganesh Bhat, (Both being former HoD’s, deans and vice principals) who prepared him towards distinction which led to this prestigious award.

Sudhanva is the son of Subramanya Kumar S and Susheela Devi S, who expressed their joy and pride in their son’s outstanding achievement.
