Bangalore: Did Kumaraswamy Meet Yeddyurappa in Jail?

Bangalore, Oct 23: Kumaraswamy is a happy man after the high court quashed the proceedings against him and his wife. No wonder he can go around heartily expressing his sympathy towards those in jail, especially former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

The JD(S) state president on Saturday October 22 paid a visit to the Parappana Agrahara prison and soon, rumours were rife that he had gone to meet his political rival Yeddyurappa who he himself was responsible in exposing.

However, when media got the whiff of his visit, he stoutly denied meeting the former CM, and insisted that he had gone to meet former KPSC chairman Dr H N Krishna who is under judicial custody.

"Krishna has been our family friend for long. I went to meet him and express our moral solidarity."

Denying reports that he met Yeddyurappa, he said, "It is totally wrong that I went to meet Yeddyurappa. I am shocked by the capacity of the media for their imagination," Kumaraswamy said.

"Day before yesterday, Krishna’s bail plea was rejected. I wanted to give him moral support. I visited the jail and stayed with him for about 45 minutes. I have neither met Yeddyurappa nor am I trying to do so. I don’t know who is spreading these rumours," he added.

He also denied reports that he had visited Yeddyurappa in Jayadeva hospital.

"There was 24-hour police security at the hospital and the media, too, was present there at the time. If at all I had met him, there would have been some evidence to prove that."

It was earlier rumoured that he and Yeddyurappa had spent around 40 minutes in Jayadeva hospital together wherein the JD(S) supreme reportedly told Yeddyurappa that he never meant to put him in such trouble and was only exposing the land scams as a part of his duty being opposition leader.

It may be recalled that on October 15, soon after Yeddyurappa's arrest, a disturbed Kumaraswamy had expressed that he felt sad for him and it was not a matter for him to rejoice over.
