Udupi, Jun 17: An investiture ceremony and inauguration of clubs-2024 was held at St Mary's English Medium School, Kannarpady, Auditorium, on June 15.

The student leaders and office bearers elected through democratic electoral procedure were officially designated to various portfolios during the ceremony.

Fr Valerian Mendonca, the former correspondent of the school and the Victor of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur, the chief guest of the ceremony, in his speech advised students to develop sound moral and human values to be the responsible citizens of the nation.

Fr Charles Menezes, the correspondent in his presidential address said that the democratic values inculcated by students during the days of schooling will shape them into accountable leaders of tomorrow.

The head boy Shawn Elroy D’Souza and the head girl Purvi S Kotian in their first official speech thanked the voters and promised to fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with the vision and the mission of the school.

Fr Vijay Joyson D’Souza, principal administered the oath of office to the newly elected head boy, head girl and the speaker. The various ministers of the school Council and the leaders of various Houses, clubs were sworn in to their portfolios by taking the pledge administered by the speaker Adithya Viraaj Shetty.

The correspondent honored the elected leaders with Sashes and Badges. The student leaders shared the candle light symbolizing the integrity and the harmony of the school Parliament. The school council members and the leaders of various Clubs marched orderly in sync with the splendid school band to receive their official badges.

The ceremony commenced with a prayer and the ceremonial lighting of the auspicious lamp.

Rita Quadros, vice principal, welcomed the gathering. Jiya Alisha Mendonca and Macton Mendonca of grade 10 anchored the programme. The assistant head boy Mohammed Aariz and assistant head girl Anelie Nellesha Pinto proposed the vote of thanks.
