Bengaluru, June 17: Leader of Opposition and BJP leader R Ashoka has demanded the withdrawal of hike in petrol and diesel prices in the state and alleged that the Congress government has resorted to the increase to avenge the party’s defeat in the Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking at the BJP protest near the Freedom Park against the price hike on Monday, he said the Congress party was able to win only 9 seats after bragging about winning 20 seats and now wants to punish the people.
The ruling Congress party, which came to power by promising guarantees in the assembly elections last year, has offered all kinds of Bhagyas of hikes such as milk prices, alcohol, stamp duty guidance value, electricity tariff and now the petrol and diesel price hike.

Prices of vegetables, milk, fruits, coffee and tea will increase and there will be a hike in bus fares and autorickshaw, taxi fares,” he said.
