Udupi, Jun 18: In a display of humanity and love, eight Muslim bus drivers and conductors celebrated the Bakrid festival in a unique and heartfelt manner.
On June 17, the Muslim community in coastal areas marked Bakrid, a festival symbolizing love, sacrifice, and devotion, with great enthusiasm. In a touching gesture, the Muslim drivers and conductors of private buses in Uchila distributed biryani to their colleagues to commemorate the occasion.
The team distributed biryani to approximately 450 people, including drivers and conductors of private express and service buses operating between Udupi and Mangalore. The initiative, spearheaded by Javed, Shanawaz, Nasir, Nizam, Mauji, and Munna, received support from various bus owners and staff members.
Reflecting on the initiative, team member Javed stated, "We all work in the same profession, and to enhance the joy of Bakrid, we distributed biryani."
The group, with the support of fellow community members and bus owners, allocated around Rs 33,000 for this purpose.
In an area sometimes marked by sensitive communal issues, the actions of these young men have sparked a renewed spirit of harmony and camaraderie.
