Karkala: Pedestrian mowed down by crane, driver booked

Karkala, Jul 9: In a tragic incident near Durga Garage in Kukkundoor village on Tuesday, July 9 morning, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a crane. The victim, identified as Angara (70), a resident of Jaladurganagara in Kukkundoor, died on the spot.

The incident occurred while Angara was walking on the roadside from Jodukatte towards Ayyappanagara when a crane hit him. It is reported that the crane driver was driving negligently, which led to the accident.

As a result of the collision, Angara was caught under the crane and died on the spot. The crane belongs to Sadananda, the owner of a quarry in Ayyappanagara, Kukkundoor.

A case has been registered against the driver at the Karkala Town Police Station for causing death due to negligent driving.
