Kundapur, Jul 12: Kiran Kodgi, MLA of Kundapur, praised the efforts to raise awareness among students about traditional agriculture in today's era of mechanized farming. "It's commendable that Scouts, Guides, and other organizations are educating students about paddy farming and agricultural traditions," Kodgi said after flagging off the 'Krishiya Kade Namma Nade' programme organized by the school education and literacy department and the BEO's office of Kundapur, led by Bharath Scouts and Guides Kundapur at the Kotian family's paddy fields in Mangalpande ward on Friday.

Gunaratna, President of Scouts and Guides Kundapur, highlighted that the 'Krishiya Kade Namma Nade' programme has been educating students about agriculture for the past 10 years, aiming to provide practical agricultural awareness.

Key attendees included Sumana Shekhar, state assistant organizing commissioner; resource person Sunita Baanz; local body secretary Rekha K U; social worker Sathish; Sumitra Kotian; vice president of the organization K R Nayak; Kotian family members; and local school teachers.

The students enjoyed planting saplings in the tilled paddy fields, with 240 students from seven schools in the Kundapur block participating. They gained valuable experience in traditional farming practices, which are rapidly disappearing.

Ananda Adiga, secretary of Bharath Scouts and Guides, gave the introductory speech, and teacher Taradevi welcomed the participants. The organization's treasurer, Veerendra, gave the vote of thanks, while Scout teacher Sadananda Shetty of Tekkatte Kuvempu Centenary School compered the event.
