Kundapur: World Kundapra Kannada cultural day to be celebrated on July 28

Kundapura, July 17: The Kalakshetra Kundapura Trust has organised a special event in honour of World Kundapra Kannada Cultural Day, celebrated annually on Karkataka Amavasya. The event is scheduled to take place on July 28 at the Board High School grounds in Kundapura, featuring rural sports.

B Kishore Kumar, president of Kalakshetra Kundapura Trust, spoke at a press conference, highlighting that in recent years, cultural and religiously-themed sports events have been organised. However, it is anticipated that this rural sports event, organised under the auspices of the Kalakshetra Kundapura Trust, will be the first of its kind in the Kundapra Kannada language.

The sports event will involve participants from Kundapura, Byndoor, Brahmavar, and Hebri taluks. A comprehensive championship title will be awarded to the team winning the most games.

Key figures present at the press conference included K R Nayak, vice-president of Kalakshetra Kundapura Trust, Trivikram Pai, secretary, Sanath Kumar Rai from Geetagan Institute, Rajesh Kaveri, Sainath Shetty, Arun Bannur, and Ravindra Bangera.

Competitions will include individual events such as target shooting, pole climbing, tyre race, and sack race for participants aged 12 and under, as well as hoop rolling, tug of war, tyre race, lime-and-spoon race, and team games for adults.
