Kundapur: Appeal on Konkan-Indian Railways merger submitted to minister

Kundapur, Jul 18: The Railway Passengers’ Welfare Committee of the city met with state minister for railways, Somanna, in Mangaluru to submit an appeal for various demands, including the merger of the financially struggling Konkan Railways with Indian Railways.

The committee, facilitated by MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, presented their appeal to minister v Somanna. The appeal included requests for the introduction of the New Padil Bypass train between Kundapur and Bengaluru, the commencement of the Amrit Bharat Yojana at Udupi Railway Station, the construction of a second platform at Barkur Railway Station, the additional deployment of RPF personnel for enhanced security at Udupi district railway stations, the attachment of LHB coaches to the Matsyagandha and CST Superfast Express trains, resolving technical issues in the Subramanya-Sakleshpur ghat section for additional train movement, and the addition of more coaches to the Panchaganga train without altering its schedule.

Minister Somanna responded positively to the demands and assured the committee that their requests would be addressed as soon as possible. Committee members Ganesh Puthran, Vivek Nayak, Joy Carvalho, Nagaraj Achar, Praveen T, Abijit Sarang, Prithvi Kundar, Gautam Shetty, and Sudhakar Shetty participated in the meeting.
